Chevrolet Cruze Named “2011 Canadian Car of the Year”

The all-new Chevrolet Cruze continues to earn praise, and the latest is from Canadian auto journalists. The Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC) has named the Cruze the “2011 Canadian Car of the Year.”

“We are very proud to receive AJAC’s 2011 Canadian Car of the Year honours for the all-new Chevrolet Cruze, which reflects a major refocusing of investment on smaller vehicles and fuel efficient technologies,” said Kevin Williams, GM of Canada’s president and managing director. “The Cruze represents our line in the sand: We’re playing to win – and delivering the goods – in the small car business.”

Each year, the AJAC gives an award to a new vehicle that excels in head-to-head evaluations performed by over 70 of Canada’s leading automotive journalists. This year’s competition included 144 new vehicles.

Cruze embodies Chevrolet’s commitment to building refined, fuel-efficient vehicles. The new model features fuel-efficient four-cylinder engines combined and a ECO model that delivers class-leading fuel economy. Safety is also assured thanks to 10 standard airbags, along with available OnStar connectivity.

The Chevy Cruze continues to shake up the compact car segment, and it’s helping boost GM’s market share in this highly competitive niche.
