Chevrolet MyLink Is A Smartphone On Wheels

General Motors is taking aim at Ford’s SYNC infotainment system with the all-new Chevrolet MyLink. The system will allow drivers to utilize mobile communications in the vehicle through an in-dash interface and voice commands.

“Chevrolet MyLink is the next logical step for in-vehicle connectivity,” said Karl Stracke, vice president for Global Product Engineering. “MyLink leverages the mobile broadband capability and the sophisticated, online services made possible by today’s smart phones.”

MyLink offers the safety and security of OnStar, as well as entertainment thanks to AM/FM/XM tuners, CD player with MP3 playback, auxiliary and USB inputs. But the system also offers an enhanced hands-free voice control system that enables verbal control of smartphone applications.

Chevy MyLink will make its debut on the 2012 Chevrolet Volt and Equinox this fall. It will expand to other vehicles in the Chevrolet lineup over the next 18 months.
